*Drawer jig comes with a pair of slip on extension blocks to use when drawer front is less than 266mm (10 inches) wide, It will center on as small as a 165mm (6 1/2 inch) wide drawer front with extension blocks attached.
This is our XR Model, which features extra long horizontal rails to enable the drilling of 40" wide drawer fronts.
Using this jig is as simple as 1 2 3
1. Place Drawer Jig on drawer front (don't worry...the jig will not scratch the drawer front).
2. Twist the two knobs to self center the height and width (jig automatically centers and squares in both directions).
3. Drill thorough the appropriate hole or holes of the hardened steel insert while holding tension on one of the knobs.
Lee grew up in the cabinet business.
It was a long summer afternoon working with his dad, back in the 60's, spending hours arduously measuring -- and remeasuring -- and drilling hardware for a big job with a lot of different-sized drawers, when he conceived of what would become the S&H Drawer Jig. But he was just a kid then, so he sat on the idea and kept measuring.
Then in the 80's, now an owner of his own shop with a young family, he patented his design. He found a world-class manufacturing partner nearby in Dayton, Virginia. The only problem was, when you design and build cabinetry as beautifully as Lee does, you STAY busy. Like, for decades at a time.
So for a long while, Lee didn't have free-time to spend telling the world about his jig. Builders would find it in woodworking supply catalogs. Word traveled organically. It even got ripped-off by a low-cost, low-quality manufacturer in Asia for a while (it didn't last).
Meanwhile, though, Lee's own installers (to say nothing of friends at competing shops) have put the S&H jigs through rigorous, daily job-site testing.
The universal verdict: The S&H Drawer Jig is a workhorse, made to last. It's one of those tools.
And now it's time for Lee to spread the word.
He wants cabinet-builders everywhere to know they can stop wasting their days with plywood jigs that ream-out after they drill fifteen drawers, and they can stop measuring with a pencil and a tri-square. The S&H Drawer Jig will yield a more accurate result at a much, much faster pace.
